The Marketplace is where you trade items you already own for something you want more: an authenticated graded slab or a CS2 skin. You pay with items from your inventory rather than with gems or money, so the Marketplace works as a trade between you and BOXED rather than as a store or a player-to-player trading floor.
Summary
The Marketplace lets you trade in trading cards and CS2 skins from your inventory toward a graded slab or a CS2 skin that BOXED has listed. You can combine up to 50 inventory items in a single trade. Graded slabs ship to your saved shipping address, and CS2 skins are delivered to your linked Steam account using your Steam Trade URL. Marketplace prices have shipping built into them, which is why the same item can be priced differently depending on your country and the item tier. Marketplace orders cannot be cancelled once placed, so the time to check everything is before you confirm. The Marketplace and the Exchange are two separate features that work differently.
The Marketplace and the Exchange are separate features
These two features are often confused, so it is worth being precise about the difference.
Marketplace: you trade inventory items in toward a specific graded slab or CS2 skin that BOXED has listed. You choose the item you want, then choose which of your items to put toward it.
Exchange: you swap one item you own for another item of similar value. The number of swaps you can make each week depends on your subscription tier.
If you want a specific graded slab or CS2 skin, use the Marketplace. If you simply want to turn one item into a different item of roughly the same value, use the Exchange. Both features draw on the same inventory, so an item you are holding can go to either one, and you are free to use both.
What you can get from the Marketplace
Graded slabs: authenticated, professionally graded physical trading cards, shipped to you.
CS2 skins: delivered to your linked Steam account. See CS2 skins: sending and withdrawing to Steam for the full delivery process.
What you can trade in
You pay for a Marketplace item with items you already own. Trading cards and CS2 skins in your inventory can both be traded in, and you can combine several items to reach the value you need. The maximum is 50 inventory items in a single Marketplace trade.
You cannot pay a Marketplace price with gems or with money, and you cannot top up a shortfall in gems. What you can do is add more inventory items to the trade until you reach the listed value. If the item you want is worth more than 50 of your items can cover, you can build toward it first: open boxes, play Box Battles, or use the Exchange to consolidate several smaller items into fewer, higher-value ones, then place the trade.
How to make a Marketplace trade
Open the Marketplace and browse the graded slabs and CS2 skins available to you.
Select the item you want.
Choose the items from your inventory that you want to trade in, up to 50 items in one trade.
Review the summary. This is the point to check the item, your delivery details, and the total.
Confirm the trade. Your traded-in items leave your inventory and your new item is queued for fulfilment.
What you need before you confirm
For a graded slab: a valid shipping address saved on your account. You can add or update your default shipping address at any time in your account settings, and the process is covered in Changing your shipping address. Setting the correct address before you place the order matters, because a Marketplace order usually cannot have its address changed once it has been placed. Physical items ship to the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
For a CS2 skin: a linked Steam account with a valid Steam Trade URL, and completed identity verification (KYC). If your Steam Trade URL has changed, you can update it in your settings before you place the trade.
Prices, shipping, and fulfilment
Marketplace prices have shipping built into them. That is why the same slab can carry a different price for two players: the shipping component varies by destination country and by item tier.
United States: no extra shipping gems are charged on a Marketplace order, because the shipping cost is already inside the listed price.
United Kingdom and Canada: an additional variable gem fee applies, calculated from the value of the item. The amount is shown to you in the order summary before you confirm, so you can see the full total in advance.
Marketplace fulfilment runs through Fanatics, our fulfilment partner for graded slabs. Processing takes roughly 3 to 10 days from when you place the order, and shipping begins after processing completes. Once dispatched, the parcel typically arrives within the carrier's stated window from the ship date. Broader shipping detail is in Shipping: tracking, timelines and costs. International orders may be subject to customs duties or import fees charged by your local authorities, which are separate from the Marketplace price. CS2 skins are delivered to your linked Steam account and do not involve shipping at all.
Before you confirm: what is and is not reversible
A Marketplace order is final once you confirm it and cannot be cancelled or reversed, and its shipping address usually cannot be changed afterwards either. Before you confirm, you can change your selection freely, remove items from the trade, or back out entirely at no cost. Take that moment to check the item, the total, and your delivery details.
After confirming, you still have options in specific situations. If a graded slab arrives damaged, defective, or is not the item you ordered, see Damaged, defective, or wrong card received. If a shipment does not arrive at all, see Lost or undelivered packages. For what is and is not refundable across BOXED generally, see Refunds: what is refundable.
Common questions
Can I buy a Marketplace item with gems or money?
You cannot pay a Marketplace price with gems or with money. You pay for a Marketplace item by trading in items you already own, and you can combine up to 50 inventory items in one trade to reach the listed value. If you want to grow your inventory first, you can Purchase Gems and use them to open boxes or play battles, then trade in the items you receive.
What is the difference between the Marketplace and the Exchange?
The Marketplace and the Exchange are separate features. The Marketplace lets you trade inventory items toward a specific graded slab or CS2 skin that BOXED has listed. The Exchange lets you swap one item for another item of similar value, with a weekly swap allowance that depends on your subscription tier.
How many items can I trade in at once?
You can trade in up to 50 inventory items in a single Marketplace trade. If you need more value than 50 items can cover, you can consolidate smaller items into higher-value ones through the Exchange first, then place the trade.
What happens if my items are worth less than the item I picked?
If your selected items do not cover the listed value, the trade will not go through as it stands. You can keep adding items from your inventory, up to the 50-item limit, until you reach the value. You cannot make up the difference with gems or with money.
Can I get a CS2 skin from the Marketplace?
Yes, you can get a CS2 skin from the Marketplace. Trade in cards or skins from your inventory toward the skin you want, and it is delivered to your linked Steam account. You need a linked Steam account with a valid Steam Trade URL and completed identity verification in place first.
Can I trade in a CS2 skin I already own?
Yes, CS2 skins already in your inventory can be traded in toward a graded slab or toward another CS2 skin, exactly like trading cards.
Why is the same item priced differently for me than for someone else?
The same item can carry a different Marketplace price for different players because shipping is built into the listing price, and that shipping component varies by destination country and by item tier. In the United States there is no additional shipping charge on top, while orders to the United Kingdom and Canada carry an extra variable gem fee based on the value of the item, shown in the order summary before you confirm.
How long does a Marketplace order take to arrive?
A Marketplace order goes through roughly 3 to 10 days of processing with our fulfilment partner Fanatics, and shipping begins once processing completes. After dispatch, the parcel typically arrives within the carrier's stated window from the ship date, and you can follow it with the tracking shown on your order.
Can I cancel a Marketplace order or change its address?
A Marketplace order cannot be cancelled once you confirm it, and its shipping address usually cannot be changed afterwards either. Up until you confirm, you can change or remove any item in the trade, update your default shipping address in settings, or leave without placing the order. If the item then arrives damaged or never arrives, see Damaged, defective, or wrong card received and Lost or undelivered packages, and if you are still stuck, please ask to speak to a human and our team will look into it. Cancellation rules for other order types are in Cancelling an order or withdrawal.
Can I sell my items to other players on the Marketplace?
The Marketplace does not support selling or listing items to other players, because every Marketplace trade is between you and BOXED. If you want to convert an item into gems instead, you can sell it back from your inventory, which is covered in Cards: sell back, withdraw, exchange or display.
